One of our summer projects is to find all the good rockhounding sites within an hour or so drive. An obscure website listed the Potlatch River canyon near Kendrick as a place to find petrified/opalized wood, so the kids and the dog and I drove a few minutes out of Kendrick and found a good gravel bed to hunt. No opalized wood, but lots of these pretty rocks — Agates or quartz maybe? A few pink ones that might have some carnelian involved. Needless to say, we’re still fine tuning our rock identification skills.

Not sure what it is, but it’s translucent

Eva mostly lounged.
