Today Lewis defeated an obstacle that has long been plaguing him: he learned how to blow his nose. In my natural excitement I congratulated him, and in his natural excitement he explained: Yep, I can blow my nose. Policemen can blow their noses. Yep. They just drive around all day in their police cars, wiping their noses.
Now, the world may never know what inspired that multi-layered thought, but moving right along…
Inge has decided she will either be a doctor or a circus tricker when she grows up. She even contemplates the possibility of being a doctor during the interim periods when she’s out of work because the circus isn’t in town. Meanwhile, she has been mining for gold and diamonds at two main sites located in the playroom and the front yard–with, I might add, remarkable perseverance, flexibility, and ostensible success. The “minery” yields endless fun, and sometimes when I think about mineries, circus tricking, and being a doctor, I wonder if any of us adults really know what it means to diversify.
